Shaun Stuchly is the Fellow Coordinator at Florida Pitt Waller K-8 and Vista Academy. He received his undergraduate degree from Loyola University of Chicago in Sociology and Criminology and his Masters from the University of Phoenix in Elementary Education. Shaun served as a Sergeant in the Army for Airborne Unit for five years. He enjoys working with fellows because he can see their confidence grow throughout the year.
Fred Poutre has lived all over the US and is a Denver Math Fellow at Vista Academy. He has his associates in Education with a focus on Math. According to him, he became a fellow because “I missed teaching math and I like working with Middle Schoolers, so after reading the job description, it was a perfect fit.”
DeLouis Powell is a Denver Math Fellow at Waller this year. She is originally from Virginia and received her undergraduate degree from VA Union. She went onto University of Maryland College Park, where she received her Masters and PhD in Microbiology. Her favorite part of working with students is seeing them when they’re older. She said that realizing even though they can be difficult now, they have so much potential. “I enjoy looking at them now and knowing where they can go into the future,” said DeLois.
Eddy Wang is originally from Rochester, NY and is serving as a Denver Math Fellow at Waller. He graduated from Yale with a degree in East Asian Studies. The best part of being a fellow for Eddy is the growth of the students and not knowing what to expect. He said, “I enjoy that not everything is a linear growth and having to think about a way to approach their learning.”
Molly Smith is originally from Iowa and is serving as a Denver Math Fellow and is a part of the Relay Graduate School of Education program at Waller. Molly graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Psychology. Her favorite part of working with student is seeing them in small groups and getting to know who they are by building relationships.
Aracelis Chase is serving as a Denver Math Fellow at Florida PittWaller K-8. She’s originally from Panama, where she graduated with a degree in Administrative Industrial Engineering. When asked about her experience, she said, “It’s amazing to realize I can make a difference in their lives and that they can change, and I like helping to make sure they’re prepared to go to college.”
Mawin Wongveerakul is serving a Denver Math Fellow at Waller this year and is originally from Thailand. He graduated from Metro State University with a degree in Math. He said, “My favorite part of working with students is when they get it!”
